Tickets Go on Sale for Chamber’s Charity Disney 3D Film Preview to Raise Thousands for Hospice

11 Jan 2011

Haverhill Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with Cineworld Haverhill to host a charity film preview of Disney’s new 3D animated film ‘TANGLED’ to raise money for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Disney has kindly agreed to allow Haverhill Chamber and Cineworld Haverhill to preview its new 3D film ‘TANGLED’ five days before it goes on general release in the UK on Sunday 23 January to raise money for the hospice. Cineworld Haverhill has kindly donated the screen for free and a pair of 3D glasses for every ticket holder.

‘TANGLED’ tells the story of Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore), the tower-bound girl with 70 feet of golden hair, and a charismatic outlaw, Flynn Rider (voiced by Zachary Levi). Rapunzel makes a pact with the handsome thief and the improbable duo soon find themselves tangled up in a spectacular action-packed escapade. ‘TANGLED’ marks Walt Disney Pictures’ 50th full-length animated feature.

Sarah Howard, Chairman of Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, said: “This is hugely exciting news for Haverhill as Disney rarely allows its films to be previewed in the regions and ‘TANGLED’ will be shown five days before its release to the general public. Cineworld Haverhill has done the town proud by securing the film in advance for our charity screening. I will be taking my daughters to the preview and I hope people in the town will support this screening because all the proceeds are going to St Nicholas Hospice Care.”

Dominika Pawlowska, from Cineworld Haverhill, said: "We are extremely thankful to the Walt Disney Company for allowing us to have their latest blockbuster to preview for charity. It is the very least we as a cinema can do to provide a screen and 3D glasses to raise money for such a worthwhile local cause. We hope the event is a glorious spectacle for children of all ages to enjoy."

Haverhill printing firm Printwise has kindly donated the design and printing of the tickets and posters for the preview.

Alison Hogarth, from Disney, said: "Walt Disney Studios are delighted to support St Nicholas Hospice Care by joining forces with Cineworld cinemas to donate a free screening of our upcoming film 'TANGLED'. We are also excited to be able to allow you to show this film before it is released on the 28th January, making it even more exclusive for guests. With a film for all ages to enjoy, we hope that the event is a great success in raising lots of funds for a worthwhile cause."

St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity which looks after people with terminal and life limiting illnesses. This can include cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and the advanced stages of heart and lung disease. As a registered charity, St Nicholas Hospice Care has to raise £10,000 every day through the generosity of the local community. St Nicholas Hospice Care provides care and support throughout West Suffolk and Thetford. This is not only through their Hospice site in Bury St Edmunds. Every year nurses from St Nicholas Hospice Care, which is member of the Haverhill Chamber, help people living with terminal illness in Haverhill by visiting them in their homes to provide care and support.

Abby Mayes, Corporate Fundraiser for St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “It is great to see how Cineworld Haverhill and the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce are being so pro-active with their fundraising and involving the whole community.  I would like to thank all at Cineworld for their hard work in getting the film preview and to the Chamber for their support. I welcome everybody to attend this fantastic event.”

Tickets for the preview on Sunday 23 January 2011 at 3pm cost £10 per person and include a free pair of 3D glasses, entry into a prize draw to win a family cinema ticket (four people) and children’s entertainment before the showing. Screens open at 2.30pm. Tickets go on sale on Monday 4 January 2011 and can be purchased in person from Cineworld Haverhill.
