Chairman of Suffolk IoD to Address Haverhill Business Event

Chairman of the Institute of Directors Suffolk and Chief Executive of Ipswich Building Society Paul Winter has been confirmed as the guest speaker for Haverhill Chamber of Commerce’s Business Networking Lunch on Wednesday 29 June.

Open to all businesses in the town, the topic of the lunch at Haverhill Golf Club will be ‘If You've Got to Grow, Grow Now’ in which Paul will be looking at how businesses, preparing to come through the economic downturn, can be ready to grow.

Paul’s career with Ipswich Building Society began in 1982.  He moved up from the position of Assistant General Manager to Deputy Managing Director and then became Sales and Marketing Director. He became Chief Executive in 2007 and has recently opened two new branches, in Sudbury and Ravenswood and two new agencies in Southwold and Gorleston.

Paul also sits on the MP and Business Liaison Board for Suffolk and is a member of the Building Societies Association Council.

He said: “I’m looking forward to meeting businesses in Haverhill and sharing with them our vision of growth for the future. The economic downturn has hot many industries very hard but we must not let this blinker of view of the future and planning to grow now makes good business sense.”

Also speaking at the event will be Martyn Wagner, Vice Principal of West Suffolk College and member of Haverhill Chamber’s committee, who will talk about the need to take up the baton and draw in millions of pounds to the local economy by getting skilled-up in Customer Service in time for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Sarah Howard, Chairman of Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are delighted that Paul Winter has agreed to be our guest speaker at our business networking lunch. Paul has a wealth of experience in business and is an inspirational speaker. As Chairman of the Institute of Directors he champions business across Suffolk and represents the county at national level as a member of the MP and Business Liaison Board for Suffolk. This is an event that will be relevant for all businesses in and around the town from sole traders to large corporations and an excellent chance to network.”

The event takes place on Wednesday 29 June at Haverhill Golf Club from 12 noon to 2.30pm. Tickets: Members £22 + VAT, non-members £28 + VAT and includes a two-course lunch with coffee and mints.  Tickets are available online at www.haverhillchamber.co.uk or telephone Sue Warren on 01440 705578 for further information.
