Focus on UKTI’s Export Credits Guarantee Dept
The Export Credits Guarantee Department (ECGD) is the UK’s official export credit agency. ECGD offers a number of products to help exporters of all sizes with finance, bonds, working capital and insurance.

Patrick Crawford, Chief Executive, UK Export Finance
Patrick Crawford was appointed to his role at UK Export Finance in July 2004.
From 2002 to 2004 Patrick was Managing Director of Emerging Africa Advisers, a division of Standard Bank London, acting as the Principal Adviser to the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund. This fund was established by the UK’s Department for International Development and three European governments in 2002 in association with three official development finance institutions and Barclays Bank and Standard Bank of South Africa to provide long-term debt finance to private sector infrastructure in sub-Saharan Africa.
This followed a career of 26 years with Deutsche Bank and, before its acquisition, Morgan Grenfell & Co. Limited; this included a secondment to the Projects and Export Policy Division of the UK Department of Trade and Industry in 1983 to 1985. Patrick was Global Head of Project Finance between 1998-2002 in New York and London.
Patrick is a Non-Executive Director of UK Trade and Investment and was a Non-Executive Director of Crossrail Limited between 2008 and 2011.
