Guest Speaker
Deborah Cadman - Chief Executive of the East of England Development Agency
The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is the driving force behind sustainable economic growth and regeneration in the East of England. EEDA has three key roles:
• setting and shaping the direction of economic development in the East of England
• persuading and influencing others to bring resources together to find innovative ways to solve challenging economic issues
• investing in imaginative projects that challenge the norm and will have a significant impact on economic development in the East of England.
EEDA is having a significant and positive impact on the East of England economy. A recently published independent report by PA Consulting and SQW showed a return of £4.75 for every £1 spent on investment and that further benefits are likely to see a return of £7.60 for every £1 spent on investment. The report drew on evaluations of over 60 per cent of EEDA investment between 2002 and 2007. It said that EEDA was responsible for 17% of the overall increase in businesses and responsible for 20% of the total brownfield land remediated during the period of evaluation.
