14-19 Strategic Conference - Backing Young Suffolk
15 - June - 2010
Ipswich
TRINITY PARK
Traditionally educationalists and employers have had separate conferences, but this event offered the chance for them to talk to each other about the skills needs of the future. The 14-19 Reform agenda is seeking to radically change the structure and content of post-16 education in the UK to raise Britain's competitiveness in the global markets of the 21st Century.
Suffolk is fully committed to this Agenda and to engaging employers directly into the design and delivery of the new Diplomas, Apprenticeships and Foundation Learning, to developing sectors such as Tourism and Bio Tech as part of its own economic strategy for attracting new investment.
Key themes will included:
- Jobs of the Future as predicted by renowned Futurologist Ian Pearson
- How that future relates to Suffolk's employers and future employees
- How you as an employer, educationalist, or key influencer can help shape the way Suffolk uses its resources
- Summary by Mick Walters, ex-Director of QCA and next steps
